I’m cool now

My three year old daughter puts a piece of string on my head and says: here you go Daddy, here’s a headband. Now you look cool.

Pearl Quote of the Day

Pearl came over to Morgan and gave him a piece of pepperoni off her pizza and said: “Here you go, Daddy. Here’s your bone-app-eee-teee-eeeet!”

Also, yesterday she told me that she wants to stay at Papa and Gaga’s and she wants me to go home. When I asked her why she didn’t want me to stay at Papa and Gaga’s with her she told me, “Because I can take care of Enzo myself.”

I love this kid so much!

Playground with Daddy

We were all a little under the weather this past weekend, but we managed to make a quick trip to the playground before it rained on Saturday.

Princess Play Hut

Now that Pearl is in school on Tuesday and Thursday mornings Enzo and I have been going to Open Gym at the Fishkill Rec Center every Tuesday. He loves running around, playing with toys and making news friends.

Here’s Enzo playing with the Princess Play Hut all by himself:

But then it gets overrun by girls:

He tried to get back inside, but it was just too crowded.

This never stops being cute…

Magnets

Pearl spelled her name with magnets tonight.

The continuing Hish chronicles…

We thought we’d solved the Hish problem (if you’re unfamiliar with the story, please click here ). Unfortunately, Hish #2 died within a week. I guess he just wasn’t as hardy as the first Hish. Again, we were faced with how we should handle it. This time it was a little trickier because we couldn’t replace him right away, forcing us to leave Hish #2 dead in the fishbowl for a couple days after he died. It wasn’t pretty.

My friend Kate was visiting so we decided to go to a different pet store and buy another goldfish. When we got there, I asked the owner for some advice and he told me that contrary to popular belief, goldfish shouldn’t be kept in fishbowls. He suggested we get a beta fish. It made sense, but a beta fish doesn’t look anything like a goldfish – it’s blue, for crying out loud! However, I didn’t want to get another goldfish just to have it die again so I bought the beta fish.

On the walk back home, Pearl kept talking about how she was so excited to get home and “feed her favorite fish, Hish.” Kate and I tried to figure out how I was going to explain this one, but we didn’t come up with anything good. Finally, we arrived home and Pearl wanted to feed her fish. I took the new beta fish out of the shopping bag and put him in the bowl. Pearl looked at the fish. I looked at Pearl and then blurted out, “Hish changed colors! He must be a MAGIC fish!” Pearl’s eyes widened and she jumped up and down. “He’s blue now, Mama! Hish turned blue!”

I feel so guilty.

Please pray that Hish #3 fares better than the last two.
