My Two Very Different Kids

As Pearl and Enzo have gotten bigger they’ve started to look more alike. I get lots of comments when we’re out and about and I’ve been noticing in photos that they have similar smiles. However, while they may LOOK similar, their personalities are soooooo different. Case in point: Yesterday I brought the kids to the gym daycare so I could run. When I came to pick them up, Pearl was coloring quietly by herself in one room but I didn’t see Enzo – or any other kids. When I asked one of the caregivers where everyone was she said, “The other kids all wanted to take care of Enzo today.” I looked in the other room and Enzo was playing with cars while a little girl hovered over him and all the other kids watched. When I picked him up to leave all the kids were hollering, “Bye, Enzo!”/”See you later, buddy!” And Enzo was blowing them kisses and waving like crazy. Meanwhile, I had to remind Pearl (who is much closer to the other kids’ ages) to say goodbye to everyone.

It’s so funny how independent Pearl is compared to how social Enzo is. I have to say that I think it’s a good trait – especially for a girl – to not care so much what other people think or to be too interested in “fitting in.” I hope she keeps that independent spirit as she gets older and starts school. On the other hand, I hope Enzo keeps his charm too! I can’t describe how proud I am of both of them and how blessed I feel to spend my days watching these two amazing personalities emerge.

Now today we’re off to the beach where I will deal with a personality trait that I don’t like in either of them – SAND EATING!

First Steps!

Last night Enzo took his first two steps. I was on the phone with Nancy and he just stood up and took two steps toward me all by himself! I got so excited that I started screaming, “He’s walking!” and probably scared the poor baby so who knows if he’ll ever get up the courage to do it again, but it was still an amazing moment that I’m so glad I got to witness. Look out, world – here comes ENZO!

Another Busy Weekend!

This weekend we got to go to Long Island for our cousin Johnny’s graduation party! All four of us had a great time swimming, eating and visiting with our family.

Enzo liked the food so much he used a fork for the first time!
