Swimming Goggles

Pearl’s swimming lessons start today. It will be her first class without a parent in the water with her. Jill bought some swimming goggles yesterday and Pearl says they’re “beautiful” and a “perfect match.”. Good luck today!

Pearly Whites

Today was Pearl’s first trip to the dentist. She was pretty excited and was doing well, but as soon as the hygienist reclined the big chair she freaked out. Her whole body stiffened and her face turned beat red. The poor thing looked terrified! I held her hands and stroked her hair while the hygienist flossed and cleaned her teeth, but Pearl cried the whole time. :( Fortunately, as soon as the cleaning was over she was fine and thrilled to not only get TWO stickers, but a new toothbrush and a little bath toy! The dentist said that kids her age often react that way (and to be quite honest, I sort of thought this would happen). Hopefully our next visit will go a little smoother now that she knows what to expect. In any case, I’m proud of my little Pearl and her pearly whites!

What are you doing to Enzo?

The other day I was working at my computer in the dining room and I hear Enzo cracking up in the family room next door. I thought, “Maybe Pearl is tickling him!” So I got out my video camera then snuck around the corner and this is what I found:

Yes, you saw that right. At first I didn’t understand what I was seeing, but then I obviously caught on – Pearl was wrestling Enzo and shoving his face into the carpet.

Every day is an adventure!!!

Hungry for Hummus

Enzo’s first taste of hummus – and he LOVED it!

Potty in the Parking Lot

Here’s a pic of Pearl going potty on our portable toilet in the trunk of our car at Walmart.

Note that she’s holding her yogurt – she told me she needed to have it so she could go.

These are the moments I’ll remember forever!

(Dear Pearl: I know you will probably hate me someday for posting this pic, but it was too funny not to! Love, Mommy)

What a week!

As many of you know I sprained BOTH my ankles last weekend while running a 10k called the Leatherman’s Loop (http://www.leathermansloop.org). There were three river crossings, a 100-foot quarry climb and lots of mud! It was a great challenge, but I am PAYING for it now! Fortunately, my friends down here have been extremely generous by sending us meals and bringing their kids over to entertain Pearl and Enzo since it’s tough for me to get around. I’m feeling better every day though and I think I’ll be back on at least one of my feet by the end of the week.

In other news, we are loving the spring weather! The other day we drove to Cold Spring to buy a gently-used tricycle I found on Craigslist. Here’s Pearl on her new wheels:

Since we were down there we made a stop at the Cold Spring Tot Lot – a very cute playground for little ones:

Our next big milestone is Pearl is going to start swimming lessons next – on her own! I’m so excited to see how she does. She’s growing up so fast. I can’t believe she’ll be THREE soon!

On the Potty by Herself

Pearl can get her pants down and hop up on the potty all by herself now!
