Pearl at Two and Three-Quarters-Years Old

I know we’ve been doing lots of Enzo updates lately because he’s growing and changing so fast, but there’s been a lot going on with Pearl lately too! First off, she thinks she’s an owl now. If you call her a little girl, she corrects you and says, “I’m an owl.” She refers to me as “mama owl” and Enzo as “Enzo owl.” She was sitting at the kitchen table the other day and said, “I want to be an owl when I grow up.” I replied, “You can be anything you want to be when you grow up. I just want you to be happy.” She responded, “I want to be a happy owl when I grow up.” So funny!

I know I’m biased, but she’s also incredibly smart! She knows all 50 states on the map, she can count, she knows the alphabet and what sounds most letters make and now she’s showing an interest in time. She often asks, “What happens when the big hand points to the 12?” It’s great to see her using her imagination and asking lots of questions. Of course, because she’s so smart she knows how to push her limits. For instance, if I want her to eat something she doesn’t want she’ll screech at the top of her lungs then say, “I need a time-out,” and try to run off to her room. Or if we’re going somewhere she doesn’t want to go she’ll screech and say, “Now we can’t go in the car.” It definitely throws me for a loop and makes it difficult to keep my cool, but I think we’re making progress. Her sweetness far outweighs her difficult moments so I can’t complain.

I could sit here and write pages on all the funny, silly, surprising, frustrating, sweet things these kids do every day, but I hear Enzo waking from his nap and Pearl has been quiet for a little too long so I’ll stop now.

Have a good day!

Up on Fours

Enzo had been getting up on all fours and making like he’s ready to stand up. It’s cute to see him rock back and forth.

Taco Tuesday?

No way! Jill is preparing an oven roasted chicken and fresh vegetables, even after a long day alone with the kids. I feel like such a lucky guy!

Big Boy!

Enzo’s first time in the FRONT of the shopping cart!

He usually stares at Pearl’s back while he sits in his car seat so he was a little confused at first. He sat very still for a while, but then once he got used to it he was smiling and flirting with everyone. He’s getting so big!
