While we were playing in our TWO FEET of snow the other day Pearl kept squealing then shouting, “I’M SOAKING COLD!” She is too funny.
Also, we went out for Thai food last night and Pearl must have gotten a taste of something too spicy. She was fine one minute and then the next she started wiping her tongue and crying, “Want Mommy to kiss your mouth! Want Mommy to kiss your mouth!” I guess if kissing her boo-boos makes them feel better then kissing her mouth when it burns is only logical so I gave her a kiss (and some goldfish) and she was fine.

The end of the year was VERY busy for me! In addition to all the holiday preparations, I’ve had lots of writing work which has been a great blessing (and a great challenge!). One of the projects I worked on was “Elmo’s Movie Merry-Thon.” On Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day Sprout will showcase a bunch of preschool-friendly holiday movies hosted by Elmo! I wrote all the Elmo dialogue so if you have Sprout you should check it out!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Here’s a funny little Pearl moment:
The other day Enzo was wearing these pajamas:

I noticed that Pearl kept poking that small circle. At first I thought she was antagonizing him, but then I realized something…
Pearl has all these Christmas toys where you push a button and the characters dance and sing:

Notice the little button on the right? I think she was pressing Enzo’s “button” to see if he’d do something interesting!
She cracks me up!

Yesterday I had a meeting in the city so we decided to make a day of it and bring the kids down to the Museum of Natural History. It was great! Pearl loooooooved being in “New Yolk City!” and seeing all the taxicabs again. Here are some highlights:

Here’s one of the “Fossil Explainers” telling us about bones. Pearl wasn’t very interested, but this guy had a LOT to say.

Here’s Daddy, Pearl and Enzo under the GIANT sea turtle:

In front of the Easter Island head:

And one of the best parts for me was seeing the origami Christmas tree – it was amazing!

After our long day, Pearl and I relaxed and snuggled:

As you can see from the above photo, Pearl and Enzo got to see Santa this week. Enzo was in desperate need of a nap. That’s why his eyes are droopy and he’s not wearing his usual smile.
Pearl was so excited to see Santa but when I put her on his lap she clutched her pink rubber duckie and froze like a deer in the headlights. I kept saying, “Smile!” and even Santa couldn’t muster a grin for me! I had high hopes for him too – especially considering he had a real beard. Oh well. I think this is a great little snapshot of what a day in our lives is like right now. I’m sure Enzo and Pearl will laugh one day when they look at this.
Have a good one!

Before I get to the quote I should tell you that Pearl hasn’t quite mastered her pronouns yet. She often says “you” instead of “I” in reference to herself.
Me: “Pearl, you’re a riot.”
Pearl (adamant): “No! You’re a squirrel!” (she seems to alternate day to day between being a “friendly squirrel with a bushy tail” or a “friendly caterpillar.”)
Also, I’ve been trying to get her excited about Christmas. The other day I was telling her how Santa is going to bring her presents. When I asked her what she wants most for Christmas she said, “Um…PEANUT BUTTER!” I hope she’s always this easy to please!
