2 Months Old!

My baby boy is 2 months old today!  It’s amazing how time has flown and at the same time I can’t even imagine life before Enzo arrived.  He is a perfect little bouncing baby boy!  Actually, I shouldn’t use the word, “little.”  We went to the pediatrician last week for his 8-week checkup and he was 14 pounds, 5 ounces!  That puts him in the 97th percentile for weight and he’s in the 90th percentile for height!  WHOA.  The pediatrician said we’re giving him too much formula (duh) so he suggested we add a teaspoon or two of rice to his bottles to keep our big boy satisfied.  We’ve been doing it for about a week now and it seems to be working.

He’s been giggling lately which is the most heart-melting thing on Earth!  It is so amazing to watch his face light up from his eyes right down to his chin.  He LOVES to snuggle and be held (unlike his sister) and he is fascinated by his mobile and other toys.  Even Pearl thinks he’s pretty interesting.  When he fusses she quickly reminds me to “give him the pacifier!”  Here’s a cute pic I snuck while the two of them were playing quietly in their play room:

Life has been good to us lately.  I hope it’s been good to you too.

Labor Day Weekend

I really needed a nice weekend and I’m so glad I got it!  Friday was one of the hardest days that I can remember.  We’ve been trying to potty train Pearl and while I don’t want to get into all the gory details I will say that Friday was ROUGH.  I could not have been more ready for three full days with Morgan.

We stayed close to home on Saturday and then Sunday we headed up to Hudson and had a picnic lunch at Olana with Papa and Gaga.  We were so excited for Enzo’s first trip to a place where I have so many happy childhood memories!

IMG_0809Look at these chubby cheeks!

IMG_0814After our picnic we went for a walk around the grounds.  We are finding we don’t have a lot of photos of the four of us so we wanted to make sure we got one… unfortunately, Enzo had already fallen asleep in the bjorn so you can’t see his face, but at least we know he’s in there because you can see all that gorgeous hair!

IMG_0830Pearl was exhausted after all our exercise so we went back to Papa and Gaga’s.  She was thrilled to find they’d set up a “big girl” bed with Yo Gabba Gabba bedding!  She was so excited that she decided that rather than take a nap she wanted to talk to the characters on her bed for over an hour.  We all took turns listening at the door while she sang and chattered, but eventually she fell asleep:

IMG_0840Today we just chilled out, ran some errands and completed a few small tasks around the house that we’ve been putting off for too long.  I’m happy to say that after a YEAR in this house Pearl finally has curtains!

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend too.

Love,

Jill

Ready to Party

A great afternoon out

We spent the afternoon in the village of Wappingers Falls just up the road from us. We had some Mexican food outside and enjoyed the breeze. Pearl was chatty and made us laugh while Enzo sat quietly awake and enjoyed the breeze. We walked up the street to get some ice cream too and Enzo liked hanging out with Daddy.

We’ve been potty training again and this time it feels like Pearl is ready. We brought it with us and she had no problem going in the back parking lot. As I type this, she just went again in our bathroom! That’s maybe the fifth time today! Cross your fingers and pray that we can keep this momentum going.

4 Wonderful Years! (and 7 wonderful weeks!)

Not only is today me and Morgan’s four-year wedding anniversary, but Enzo is also 7 weeks old!  Things have been going well.  Enzo smiles so much now and he definitely knows our voices.  He’s getting so big and he’s been sleeping more and more at night.  Last night he slept from 8:00 until 6:30!!!  I’m not getting my hopes up too high, but it was soooooo nice.  Please pray this continues.

Things are slowly staring to normalize.  I’ve started writing again which is a bit tricky, but we’re making it work.  Pearl is still having some tough moments but I’ve noticed an improvement with the tantrums.  She’s talking even more now and developing a sense of humor.  I just can’t get over how smart she is!  Yesterday an ambulance with its sirens on passed us and she asked what the noise was.  I said it was an ambulance and told her that “someone needs help.”  To which she replied: “Someone has a problem!  A BIG problem!” I’m really looking forward to our “Mommy and Me” classes which start up in a few weeks.

We’re attempting to potty train again and I think we’re making some progress.  She likes her “big girl underwear” and I’ve put a few toys in the bathroom that she’s only allowed to play with when she’s on the potty.  She’s still wearing diapers about 75 percent of the time but I’m hoping we’ll slowly phase them out.

So life is good!  I hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend.

Love,

Jill

We also went to the Dutchess County Fair and Pearl LOVED the “horsey ride.”  We went on it three times!
