Home Alone (with 2 children)

Morgan went back to work on Thursday and I have to admit that I was petrified of being alone with Pearl and Enzo.   Pearl has been throwing big tantrums lately and there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to them.  I think it’s more the “terrible twos” than sibling jealousy, but all I know is that you never know when or where one is going to strike so I was nervous.  Fortunately, the past two days went much better than I expected.  Pearl had a few small freak-outs but fortunately they weren’t in public and Enzo has no problem being put in his infant seat whenever I need to take a few minutes to give Pearl a little extra attention (or put her in a time out).  It was actually nice to start getting a new routine working for us.  The gorgeous weather today was a huge help as we got to go to the playground and I think the fresh air did us all some good.  Now we’re looking forward to a great weekend!

Love,

Jill

PS – This week was also exciting because Enzo got to have his first bath in the infant tub!  He didn’t like it at first, but he seems to be getting used to it now.

Car Spotting

Can you spot the Toyota Corolla in the first picture? Pearl did. From across the parking lot! She’s shown her ability to tell cars apart for a few weeks now. This is “Margo’s Car” since she knows that’s what Margo’s Mum drives. She can also pick out any Matrix as “Gaga’s” car and knows a green Golf is Daddy’s car. Any black pickup seems to be Papa’s truck.

Pearl gets excited about seeing cars, and loves to remind us that we have two cars – Mommy’s is black and Daddy’s is green. Also, we got Mommy’s car at the car dealership! Way to go Pearl, it’s exciting to see you share an interest with me.

Story Time

Pearl finds the puzzles and snacks more interesting than sitting at the front and listening to the story. She’s happy to go check out the other kids’ toys.

Morning at the Park

I’ve got two more days before I’m back to work and we’re having a great time. It’s breezy and warm for a change this morning so we brought Pearl out for some fresh air at the park. Enzo loves hanging out in the sling. Pearl sings her songs on the swing. I love summer!

Lazy Day

Pearl spent the night in Hudson so the three of us have had a quiet day, mostly at home. Had a nice lunch in Beacon then watched Enzo take a nap on our bed :-)

We’re at church!

Everyone is so nice and congratulatory. Enzo is alert but quiet right now (knock wood) and Pearl is playing with the kids in the day care. It’s a start to a great Sunday.
