37 Weeks

I thought I’d give you all an update on our baby boy’s progress.  I’m 37 weeks pregnant now and I can definitely feel myself slowing down.  The heat has been a bit tough, but fortunately we have central air and my gym has an outdoor recreation area with pools so we’ve been spending a lot of time in the water.  I’ve also been having some Braxton-Hicks contractions.  I didn’t have anything like this with Pearl so I was a bit freaked out at first, but they are still very brief and very irregular so it doesn’t necessarily mean I’m going to go into labor early.  I see my doctor once a week now and everything still looks good.  The baby is measuring right on target and my blood pressure and weight gain is still on target.  I’m still going to the gym a couple times a week to get a little cardio and use the weight machines which has been nice, but I get a lot of stares when I get on an elliptical machine with my HUGE belly.  Of course, it helps that Pearl loves to go to the little daycare there so even if I’m not feeling up to working out she is often my motivation for putting on my sneakers and going – she’s like my own personal trainer!

I’ve been trying to enjoy my alone time with Pearl as much as possible lately.  We have lots of fun playing in the back yard, going to our playgroups, The Little Gym and she still LOVES the water.  She seems to be warming up to the idea of being a big sister and knows she’s having a “lil brudder.”  She loves helping me put away laundry and set the table for meals now so I’m hoping she’ll by my little helper once the baby comes.

I realized the other day that we hadn’t taken a lot of photos of me during this pregnancy so here’s one for all of you who haven’t seen “the bump”:

Favorite Local Restaurant

After a visit with the new Brooklyn twins last night, we had dinner at an old favorite on the same block where we used to live. It was just as we remembered!

Weekend fun!

We had a very busy, but fun-filled weekend.  On Saturday we headed up to Hudson to see the annual Flag Day Parade.  Before the festivities began Pearl got her very FIRST haircut by none other than Papa!

She sat very still and Papa cut just enough to clean up the uneven bits but keep her gorgeous curls.  (I should mention that Papa cut my hair too but oddly enough, no one wanted to take videos or photos of that.  Hmph!)

After our haircuts we watched the Flag Day parade march down Warren Street.  Pearl loved the bands, the big trucks and the horseys.

Once the parade was over we walked down to the waterfront where there was a midway and Pearl went on the choo-choo train ride all by herself.  She was so cute.

That evening Morgan and I got to have dinner with the Mormandos while Gaga and Papa had fun with Pearl in the pool.

Sunday morning we woke up early and headed up to Central NY visit our friends Aleta and Steve who just had a beautiful baby girl named Lila.

Pearl enjoyed seeing the baby (which was encouraging) but I think she had more fun playing in the mud with Ziggy the dog.

It was a fabulous weekend and now we’re getting back to baby preparations and more summer fun at home.

Swing Time (Keep Trying!)

>
This wasn’t Pearl’s first time in a swing, but it was the first time she started singing! She’s starting to sing the “Keep Trying” song from her favorite show “Yo Gabba Gabba.” We’re at the Tot Playground and this video is from back in March when Pearl was 22 Months Old.
