A few weeks ago we bought Pearl a potty.  We’ve been trying to get her used to sitting on it by reading her stories before her baths (as seen below) and today she finally went pee on it while I read her Three Little Pigs!  She didn’t seem too impressed and she didn’t want to sit on it for the rest of the day so I’m sure we still have a long road ahead of us, but it’s a great first step toward being diaper-free!

I still get asked sometimes, “why do you call yourself a geek?  Isn’t that an insult?”  Well, no, not really to me.  I think some people (incorrectly) lump geeks, dorks and nerds all together.  I saw this Venn Diagram today and though I’d share it.

Jill was the main speaker for the dinner for the Youth of Columbia County (kids were chosen from all middle & senior high schools for outstanding accomplishments). There was a full house of friends and family of these kids plus elected representatives… and Jill gave a talk (more than a speech) to these kids that was outstanding..from her grade school thru High School, then the hard times and finally the breaks she got on her way to the Emmy award. (Would you believe she forgot to bring the Emmy !!  ugh) She had everyone in the place in the palm of her hand and you can all be sooo very proud of her cause she really did GOOD.  Like I always say  “You go girl !!!”   People stopped to talk to Kathy & Teri  (mostly said “I didn’t know she was you’re daughter, niece, granddaughter..etc.”) but they know now.  So many stopped to thank Jill, they were really touched .. You would have loved every minute of it if you were there.  Whoopee!   It was great.

It broke! Pearl woke up this morning and DID NOT ask for medicine! Her temperature was down to 98.3 after a hitting 104 on Friday. She seems back to normal and happy as a clam.

Pearl needed a huge nap since she’s sick, but this afternoon she was up for playing outside. We grilled a couple of hotdogs and veggies, our first cookout of the year!

We picked up a toy shoppng cart and a stuffed duckie at the tag sale our neighbors are having across the street. What a gorgeous day! I hope Pearl is up for going outside again.
