Independent Woman

Pearl’s personality shines more and more each day! Lately she has had some very particular fashion preferences. She loves wearing her vests – outside and inside. She will wear her “best” all day if I let her. She also still enjoys wearing her shoes and sneakers over her pajamas (which looks so uncomfortable to me, but she doesn’t seem to mind).

Pearl’s new favorite pastime is to take everything out of the cupboard (wearing her vest, of course)…

…then line it all up neatly on the kitchen table.

Today was also another big milestone for us – Pearl graduated from her “Birds” class at the Little Gym! Of course, Little Miss Independent decided that she would not participate in ANY of the group activities today, so here are some photos of the rest of the class having fun while my little rebel does her own thing.

Here’s one of Pearl NOT playing with the parachute:

Here’s one of her hanging on the uneven bars while the rest of the class practiced forward rolls:

(she definitely doesn’t get her upper-body strength from her mother)

And here is one of her walking on the balance beam all by herself:

What a pip! She definitely keeps me laughing.

Hope you’re all doing well!

Love,
Jill

Our show just premiered on Nickelodeon! We're watching it at work
right now and having some champagne.

Spicy

Waiting for dinner tonight, Pearl taught herself a new word! She
grabbed a chip, dipped it in the salsa, had a taste and proclaims it
"spicy"! Neither Jill or I remember teaching her that word.

Poppy

Today is a sad day for me and my family. Last night Poppy Cozza passed away. He was a sweet and kind grandfather and he will be missed. We took this photo of him and Pearl last July and it’s the way I will always remember him.

Three Minutes of Pearl – Cats and Cupcakes

Pearl is 19 months old, and she was given this book for Christmas. In less than a week she was finishing our sentences when we read it to her. She can fill most of the blanks, and each time we read it together she says more and more words!

My new office

I’ve moved to a new office! A year ago I wouldn’t have been excited to be working in Times Square. It’s lousy with tourists and there’s no decent places for lunch – but it’s about 12 minutes from Grand Central Station, which cuts down my commute noticeably. The building isn’t as up to date as the one I was in downtown, but it has more amenities.

Here’s a view from the hallway outside my office. Not only am I close to daylight (unlike a week ago) but I can see the Hudson.

Here’s the kitchenette on our floor. Hey Aunt Kathy – all the free Diet Coke I can handle on that fountain machine!

I still get to have my own thermostat too!

On the 7th floor there’s a huge cafeteria with an ever changing choice of food. It’s subsidized too – a custom ommlette and hash browns is only $2.25! There’s a view of Times Square and the Chrysler Building from the seating area.

Here’s a view of Times Square from outside my door.

This is the building I work in. They used to shoot TRL and other MTV shows on the second floor.

Here’s my office! Same setup as before basically, feels like home. I think I’ll get used to this no problem!
